Live in Leeds at present but planning to move to Northumberland in the next year or so. Present major interest combines Art (my best subject) and Needlework (my worst - I was definitely bottom of the class) - I spend a lot of time making arty textiles and love doing it. | Stanley Goscombe | 1958-1960 | Login or Register to view email address. | Although I still have a home in Chipping Norton, where my
brother Michael still resides, I currently live with my fiancée-partner,
Janice, in a village called Wymington in Bedfordshire, although it has a
Northamptonshire Postcode because it's attached to Rushden. I do visit with
my brother roughly once a week as it's only a 116-mile round-trip. By and
large I am kept up-to-date with local affairs such as the fire at the 'Blue
Boar' a few weeks back (SG-08/01/2009) |

| Chris Baldwin | 1959-1966 | Login or Register to view email address. | Married to Judith (nee Franklin) who left school the same year that I
did. She went on to Madeley College and I went on VSO to Jamaica. A year
of teaching taught me that the school teaching profession was not for me
so I dropped my place at Loughbrough and instead went to Liverpool University
where I got both a BSc and a PhD in geology. I taught for ten years at UEA
in Norwich and then left to become Chair of the Geology Department at Boston
University here in the USA. Later I became Associate Dean of the Graduate
School of Arts and Sciences at BU but left there seven years ago to become
Dean of Arts and Sciences here at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville,
Texas. One year ago I stepped down as Dean and I am now Professor of Geology
- both teaching and doing research, This year Judith and I celebrate our
silver wedding anniversary. We have two children: Adam who is an architect
in Dallas, and Chloe who is just completeing a biochemistry degree at the
University of Texas at Austin. We live on 30 acres (very green and very wooded - very unlike the typical image of Texas) in east Texas, about 65 miles north of Houston. We have a nice connection with the Cotswolds as we own seven sheep including two of the Cotswold breed (Our sheep are all named after famous "strumpets" and include Nell Gwynn, Madame de Sevigny, The Duchess of Alba, Cammila Parker Bowles, Monica Lewinsky, and the two Cotswolds who are Mandy Rice Davis and Kristine Keeler. They are all guarded by a donkey called Mrs. Simpson who is supervised by a dog called Mr. Darwin. The dog and donkey do frequent battle with coyotes and with the odd Bobcat that predates our chickens! 14/07/01 |

| Derek Brooks | 1959-1962 | Login or Register to view email address. | Having left with a very uninspiring school achievement record, a spell
in the Alcan factory laboratories left me bored. Various undistiguished
jobs eventually settled into a career as a plumber which I have now been
for 30 odd years, working for myself most of the time. I now live in the
East Riding of Yorkshire with my wife of 32 years. I have two sons, 27 and
25. The youngest son works with me as a plumber, the eldest is a chocolate
factory manager, and about to make me a grandfather for the firstb time.
After four heart attacks and being on the provisional list for a heart transplant
and being diabetic, I had my doubts as to whether I would ever see a grandchild!!
I still have an acute interest in aircraft and used to fly a Shadow microlight
until health put a stop to that. I still fly radio controlled model aircraft,
a hobby I have pursued for more years that I care to remember. I lived at
Little Chew and was in the same form as Rex Longshawe. 28/12/02 |
